Why it made the list
Not every desk needs a $200 monitor light bar. If your setup is a laptop, a notebook and a mug, a good arm lamp still wins: you can aim it at paper, at a keyboard, or bounce it off the wall behind the screen.
Honeywell's LED desk lamp does the important things right. The panel is rated CRI94, so colours on printed pages and swatches look like they do in daylight, and the diffuser is wide enough that you get a soft pool of light rather than a hotspot. Four colour modes run from a warm 3000K for evenings to a crisp daylight tone for focused work, and brightness is stepless rather than three fixed clicks.
Living with it
The head and arm both fold flat, which makes it easy to push out of the way or pack for a dorm or hot desk. The base holds a USB-A and a USB-C port, so a phone and earbuds can charge without stealing a wall socket, and the touch strip includes a timer for people who read in bed.
It is not a monitor light bar: put it beside a screen rather than in front of one, or you will see reflections. But for the money, the light quality is genuinely good and the charging ports remove a cable from the desk.
