BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2 review

Asymmetric monitor light bar with a wireless dial and backlight

4.6Best for: Anyone working after sunset
BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2 in a home office setup

A monitor-mounted light bar with asymmetric optics, auto-dimming and a wireless puck controller.

What we liked

  • Zero screen glare by design
  • Wireless controller puck
  • Auto-brightness at 500 lux
  • Takes up no desk space

What we didn't

  • Expensive for a light
  • Clip does not suit every monitor bezel
  • USB power required

Desk lamps light your monitor. The ScreenBar Halo lights your desk and deliberately does not light your monitor, which removes the glare that makes evening work tiring.

The auto-dim sensor measures ambient light and holds the desk at 500 lux, and the backlight glow behind the monitor reduces the contrast between screen and wall. Colour temperature runs 2700K–6500K.

The wireless puck is the bit you will actually appreciate day to day — no reaching over the monitor.
