Why it made the list
Laptop webcams are tiny sensors behind a plastic lid. The C920x is not a cinema camera, but it is dramatically sharper, better exposed and better sounding than the one built into your machine, and it has been the safe answer for a decade for a reason.
Autofocus is quick, HD light correction rescues backlit rooms, and the dual omnidirectional mics pick up voice well enough that you can skip a headset in a quiet room.
Living with it
The clip sits on any monitor and screws to a tripod if you prefer an off-centre angle. It works natively in Zoom, Teams, Meet and OBS with no drivers, and includes a privacy shutter.
Point a lamp or a window at your face rather than behind you and it looks better than most cameras twice the price.
