The most stable sub-$600 standing desk we have tested

4.7Best for: Anyone who wants a rock-solid frame that will outlast three laptops
FlexiSpot E7 Pro Standing Desk in a home office setup

A C-frame dual-motor desk with almost no wobble at standing height, a 355 lb lift capacity and a genuinely quiet motor.

What we liked

  • Exceptional stability at full standing height
  • 355 lb lift capacity
  • Quiet dual motors (about 50 dB)
  • Four programmable height presets

What we didn't

  • Cable management sold separately
  • Bamboo top marks easily
  • Heavy two-person assembly

The E7 Pro is the desk we keep recommending to people who want a lifetime frame without paying boutique prices. The three-stage legs raise from 22.8" to 48.4", which covers users from about 5'0" to 6'6" comfortably. Assembly took us 45 minutes with two people.

Under load — two 27" monitors, a laptop arm and a small speaker — we measured barely perceptible front-to-back sway at 44". That is the single biggest differentiator at this price. The keypad stores four presets and the anti-collision sensitivity is adjustable, which matters if you have a filing cabinet underneath.

Downsides are minor: the bamboo top scratches if you drag things across it, and cable management is sold separately.
