The cheapest way to get a stable, full-size work surface. A 47-inch laminate top on a welded steel frame, no motors to fail and nothing to assemble beyond four bolts.

Who it is for
If you are setting up a first home office, a guest-room desk or a second workstation, a fixed-height desk does 90% of the job for a fraction of a motorised base.
What we like
The welded steel frame is the important part: it removes the wobble that plagues flat-pack particleboard desks. A 47 x 24 inch top comfortably fits a 27-inch monitor, a full keyboard and a notebook.
Where it falls short
There is no height adjustment, so pair it with an adjustable chair and a monitor arm to get your posture right. Cable management is on you — a stick-on tray helps a lot.
