Why it made the list

If you work on a laptop all day, your neck is paying for it. A riser plus any external keyboard puts the screen where your eyes already look, and this one costs less than a takeaway.

The dual-hinge design adjusts through a wide range of heights and angles, so it works sitting or perched at a counter. The open frame lets heat escape, which keeps thin laptops from throttling under load.

Living with it

Rubber pads hold the machine firmly and there is a front lip so nothing slides off. It folds flat enough to live in a laptop sleeve — handy if you hot-desk or travel.

Because it raises the keyboard out of reach, treat an external keyboard and mouse as required, not optional.
